/Australia Day

Produced by Hoodlum Entertainment and Directed by Kriv Stenders, (Red Dog, Wake in Fright, & Doctor Doctor) Australia Day (2017) is a feature drama set on Australia’s most controversial national holiday.

Following the lives of three Australians from diverse cultural backgrounds, their stories collide illuminating contemporary issues of racial tension and national identity that simmer beneath the surface of modern Australia.

Cutting Edge worked with Hoodlum Entertainment offering data wrangling, offline facilities, online, grade, VFX and deliverables. Dailies and rushes were wrangled in Brisbane and synced to Sydney through the Cutting Edge post production pipeline. Editor Nick Meyers with Edit Assistant Varinya Eammano operated out of Cutting Edge’s Sydney studio for the editorial process, before conform and grade. The feature was finalised with VFX in Sydney along with title design, crafted by Cutting Edge Creative Director, Finnegan Spencer.

Working on his third project with Cutting Edge, Director of Photography Geoffrey Hall, (Deadline Gallipoli & Wake in Fright) collaborated closely with Kriv Stenders and Cutting Edge Colourist Dwaine Hyde, to create the visual landscape of Australia Day in grade.
