The Role:

You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the Media Operations department while operating all machines and associated equipment to deliver requests from Operators and Producers.

You will be responsible for all media operation workflow on projects across the Features & Television project slate.

Your key duties and responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

  • Broad historical knowledge of Video formats and how to technically manage a tape transfer and digitising services
  • Assist the Head of Production and other department heads as required.
  • Mentor and train emerging operators
  • Act as the technical support for Media Operators and Creative staff
  • Scheduling, prioritising and tracking internal assignments
  • Ensuring work is being approved and completed on time and to specification
  • Establishing and assisting in quality control and project closure processes
  • Report faults with equipment and track the repairs
  • Following and contributing to the CE media best practice guidelines.
  • Working with other CE departments to maintain parity of media workflows between facilities as required

Who are you?

Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of the post-production processes, including workflow, software and hardware
  • Extensive production and technical knowledge
  • Minimum of 6+ years employment within the Feature Film & Television production industry
  • An understanding of camera formats, frame rates, debayering, colour spaces, avid workflow & what information is needed to get into avid for efficient conforms
  • Ability to read/decode tech specs
  • Ability to understand standards conversions. Frame for Frame with audio pitch conversion vs hardware motion estimation (like alchemist phc).
  • Be able to read & understand tech specs for file delivery. With an understanding of containers, codecs, bit rates, bit depths, colour spaces, and audio tracks;
  • Strong operating skills in Flame; Avid; Premiere Pro; Media Encoder; Resolve
  • Highly organised with strong written and communication skills
  • Excellent scheduling and task management skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to problem solve effectively in a fast paced environment
