/Senior Sound Supervisor

Overall Responsibilities 

You will work with the Head of Features & Television, Producers and Artists. You will be responsible for the artistic and technical integration (synchronisation) of pre-recorded audio (dialogue, sound effects and music ) with visual content for Cutting Edge Projects. You will be responsible for supervising the post production process. Ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining communication between producers, editors and supervisors.

Your key duties and responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

  • To actively contribute to the effective operation of the studio’s work ensuring that the flow of information both within the department and from the client is clear, accurate and timely.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure understanding of project outcome
  • Re-recording and synchronising audio (post-synching)
  • Mixing and balancing speech, effects and music
  • Creating and altering sound effects for use in projects
  • Supervision of all audio production
  • Ensuring all documentation for projects is maintained
  • Offer ideas for sound concepts for projects
  • Recording voice overs
  • Selecting and recommending appropriate music sound for projects
  • Completing and submitting AMCOS reports
  • To maintain and take lead responsibility for planning and supervising maintenance, upgrades and testing.
  • Managing the audio library
  • Arrange freelance artists when required
  • Be across freelancers contracts, rates and contract terms
  • Assisting with crew & resources for contracting, scheduling 
  • Prepare and finalise billings and budgets
  • Ensuring all job costs are tracked against quotes to ensure profit margins are retained
  • Liaise with CE Producer to assist coordination of project workflows & documentation for clients
  • Following and contributing to the CE media best practice guidelines. Working with other CE departments to maintain parity of media workflows between facilities as required
  • Maintain best practice data security procedures, including having an understanding of MPAA / TPN guidelines
  • Working within CE and client NDA agreements
  • Ensuring work in being approved and completed on time and to specification
  • Establishing quality control and project closure processes
  • Ensuring all resources for projects are coordinated effectively 
  • Ensuring effective communication and continual team updates

  • Keeping all Google Docs and Forms up to date and tidy
  • Weekly check-ins of IF, Screen Australia, Create NSW and other publications for upcoming projects

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 6+ years employment within the Feature Film & Television production industry
  • Extensive audio production and technical knowledge
  • Tertiary qualifications in music/sound design or similar
  • Experience supervising people and projects
  • Understanding of the post production processes
  • Highly organised with strong written and communication skills
  • Excellent scheduling and task management skills
  • Extensive industry contacts
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to problem solve effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to liaise and collaborate with clients, artists and producers
  • Established software knowledge
  • Strong sense of client service
  • Diplomacy skills
  • An eye for detail
  • Ability to operate autonomously as well as a part of a team
  • Outcome driven and highly efficient
  • Highly energetic and people orientated
  • Cat herding and lion taming skills while not required, definitely a bonus!

  • Completes all Company OH&S training courses and sessions 
  • Reports any OH&S incidents or accidents that occur in the workplace immediately 
  • Ensures all Occupational Health and Safety equipment is in working order and serviced regularly 
  • Maintains a tidy work area
  • Sense of humour a must
